Most frequent questions and answers

We charge on volume of waste removed, a usual domestic property of 1000 gallons is £160.00.

Ideally you should have your system emptied every 9 to 18 months  but several factors should be considered when deciding how often your septic tank needs to be serviced and or emptied . You must take into account the age of the system, the number of occupants in your home, the amount of laundry being done in the home. Every system is different. What is right for your system may not be the same for your neighbour’s tank.

There can be odours immediately after the septic pumping service, but they should not last for any length of time after The odours are usually outside and will disperse a few hours after the septic pumping service. If you are experiencing odours in your home, this could be a sign of the system backing up.

Possibly. If your septic has not been emptied  in more than 6 months, we would want to empty the septic tank first. If the problem persists, experienced engineer will then attend to carry out high pressure jetting of the system.

A sewage treatment plant treats the waste so the waste water leaving the treatment plant is clean.A septic tank simply separates it – therefor, the waste water that leaves a sewage treatment plant is cleaner than that leaving a septic tank.

A septic tank is an underground chamber constructed of concrete, fiberglass, or plastic, and domestic sewage flows through it for basic treatment. Settling and anaerobic processes reduce solids and organics.  Septic tank systems are a type of simple onsite sewage system. They are used in areas that are not connected to a sewerage system, such as rural areas.

During a septic tank empty your engineer will note the overall condition of the system and the levels in tank. Checking the levels will assist the engineer to understand if there is a potential problem with the system. Then, he/she will pump the entire septic tank down, removing all of the liquid and solid waste. Once he is done pumping he will check the inlet and outlet tees to the tank to ensure they are still intact and functioning effectively. Any filter present will be cleaned. If you are home at the time of service (not required, but if you are) he will ask you to flush your toilets so he can make sure everything is flowing properly. Once the service is done he will return the cover and the job is complete.
