We were called out to a large house in Shoreham suffering with blocked drains. Upon attending, we used a high pressure jetting unit to clear the blockage and cctv inspected the run afterwards. It was found that the run was a pitch fibre drain. Pitch fibre was a cheaper material used for drainage in the years between the 1950s and 1970s. Unfortunately, pitch fibre blisters and deforms overtime and if not caught early enough it can completely collapse in on itself and require excavating and replacing. Fortunately, the drains in this case were able to be repaired by re-rounding the drain and then structurally lining them to cover, smooth and seal all the deformities, and, essentially, giving the customer new drains that should last a lifetime.
Since carrying out the repair work the customer has reported that they have not had any problems with blocked drains since.
